“It’s always great getting behind the wheel of something new and especially something as exciting as the S5000,” said Murphy. “I’m very honored and privileged to get the chance to do it, but I only did a couple of laps, and it wasn’t enough – I want more now!” Murphy, winner of the 1994 New Zealand Grand Prix and a four-time Bathurst 1000 winner, completed three laps of the Newcastle track between Virgin Supercars sessions with the 560hp V8-powered car, which was making its first public appearance.
